200 Indian medical students reach Delhi

As many as 200 Indian medical students studying in Ukraine reached Delhi on Tuesday. Several of them said that they were helped by the Indian embassy in Ukraine. 200 students were stranded in the bunker below their hostel in the west of Ukraine in Kharkiv. Their college seniors helped them reach the embassy. The embassy responded and provided the students with food and water till the day of evacuation.


Rakshit Gani, from Athanit, Karnataka, who is a student at Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU), appreciated the Indian Embassy. He said the Embassy quickly responded to the appeal for help from him and his friends. The Embassy arranged a bus for them to reach the Suceava Airport, Romania.


The Government of India had arranged the travel from Romanian Airport to Delhi at the cost of zero. Many of the students expressed that they are feeling fine after reaching home safely with no wounds. And evenly they are worried about the continuation of their education. They are waiting for a response from the Government of India.


Though the Indian embassy in Ukraine had not responded at first instance when the students tried contacting. Later the official from the embassy contacted the students and made the necessary arrangements.
