Apart from Indian students who were stranded in Ukraine and going through mental agony, their parents back home were also traumatized. With little help from Indian Embassy at the initial stages, the children were left in their condition.

Nidhi, the mother of Kashish, says that she was very scared about her daughter's whereabouts in war-hit Ukraine. According to her, sometimes it was very difficult to contact her daughter due to network issues. She narrates that she got very stressed when she was unable to contact her daughter for a whole night when Kashish was seeking help to cross the Ukraine border. Her daughter returned to her hometown in Uttar Pradesh on March 2.

The story is no different for Sunita Aggarwal, mother of Bhumika. “We were very much disturbed. I kept her phone in tracking mode all the time. It was a do-or-die situation”, said Sunita. She further adds that she is proud of her daughter’s brave attitude while facing such a grave situation in Ukraine. According to Sunita, her husband, a doctor, was so disturbed that he didn’t attend to any patients for a week. Bhumika returned to her hometown in Faridabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 2.

Mansi, who resides in Delhi, returned to India from Ukraine on February 27. According to her father, Pravin, he requested the officials of her University to start online classes, but the officials assured him that they will take care of that. It was only after the notification issued by Embassy, they moved to online mode. He further adds, “I instructed Mansi to travel in groups and follow the instructions of the Embassy.” For now, he is happy but he is concerned about her future studies.

Contrary to what others have to say, Abu Sufiyan, guardian of Salman says that they were unable to do anything to bring him back. “Our ward took help from agents in Ukraine to cross the border and reach Romanian Airport.” Salman was studying in Evano, Ukraine, and came back on March 2.

The last league of evacuation under Operation Ganga; is under process and it is expected that all those Indians who are stranded in Ukraine will be back very soon. The joy on the face of their family members, upon their returning, is a happy moment.
